Question #1:
Please Help Biology quiz!! I really need Help !!!!! Please I have to finish this by today!!!?
1. Lamarck noticed that giraffes used their extremely long necks to reach the leaves high up on acacia trees, which other animals could not reach, giving them a food source for which they had few competitors. In developing his theory about natural selection, what did Lamarck infer from this observation? (2 points)All giraffes were born with short necks, but eating acacia leaves would cause them to stretch over a lifetime.
Giraffe necks would get longer over a lifetime of stretching, and their offspring would inherit the longer necks of their parents.
Only the giraffes with the longest necks would survive and be able to produce offspring.
The first giraffe to evolve had a long neck and passed the trait to its offspring with no further change in the species since.
2. In the late 1700s, scientists proposed that the layers in the rocks of mountains and canyons represented a record of the passage of time, with the younger layers lying on top of the older layers. What could they determine about the fossils they were finding in the rocks based on this observation? (2 points)
Fossils in upper layers were younger than fossils in lower layers.
Fossils in upper layers were less weathered and more detailed than those in lower layers.
The exact age of a fossil could be determined by counting the rock layers.
The oldest fossils were the same as the ones found in younger rock layers.
3. Scientists have observed that pythons have vestigial leg bones. They have also observed that snakes in general have more DNA sequences in common with four-legged geckos than they do with legless eels. What do these two observations have in common? (2 points)
They both suggest that geckos evolved from snakes.
They both suggest that pythons are more primitive than other snakes.
They both suggest that snakes evolved from an ancestor with legs.
They both suggest that snakes evolved from geckos.
4. The insulin used to treat people with diabetes is commonly produced by inserting the DNA sequence for human insulin into a bacterium. The insulin the bacterium produces using that sequence is then harvested. In fact, DNA sequences from virtually any living organism could be inserted into a bacterium and the bacterium would be able to use the sequences to make the same proteins that the original organism did. In what way does this provide evidence for evolution? (2 points)
Bacteria must be less evolved than higher organisms since they can still make proteins from the DNA of other organisms.
Since bacteria are able to use DNA from other organisms, they must have evolved from them as a common descendant.
Since the bacterium was changed by adding a foreign DNA sequence, the bacterium was able to evolve.
Since the genetic code is the same across species, these species must have inherited it from a common ancestor.
5. Which of the following is the best example of evolution occurring? (2 points)
Lions and cows both have hair covering their bodies and give birth to live offspring.
Some of the trees in places with harsh winters lose their leaves in the fall.
Strains of bacteria can become immune to antibiotics that once killed them effectively.
Viruses can attack single-celled organisms as well as multicellular organisms.
6. Key deer, a subspecies of white-tailed deer, are only found on a few islands in the Florida Keys. They are tiny deer that weigh 45 to 65 pounds, which is very small compared to the 130- to 300-pound white-tailed deer that are found on the North American mainland. Which of the following conditions most likely resulted in the small size of the Key deer? (2 points)
Human influence caused increases in Key deer populations that improved genetic variation.
Limited food and water resources favored the survival of smaller deer.
Limited size variations of deer that migrated to the islands resulted in smaller deer.
Overproduction of offspring on the mainland led to migration of small, less successful deer to the islands.
7. Although most gray squirrels have gray fur, sometimes individuals with white or black fur are born. If a white-furred individual were born in a population of gray squirrels living in a Florida forest, what would be the most likely long-term consequence of its presence for the squirrel population if the forest remained unchanged for the next several generations? (2 points)
The number of white squirrels in the population would slowly increase as the original white squirrel produced white offspring.
The population would remain primarily gray, and the white squirrel would likely get eaten prior to adulthood.
The population would very quickly become predominantly white since the white squirrels would be camouflaged against the sand.
The white squirrel would draw more predators to the area since it was more visible, and many gray squirrels would get eaten.
Please help its just a quiz I would really appreciate it!!!!! thankyou!!!!

Question #3:
Dark Brown Discharge--------->>Please help?
Today i've noticed a dark brown discharge i got worried immediately. I've been on Depo since April 2011. My period normally comes early during anymoth so it's possible if i wasn't on Depo i'd have it now, but my mother assumes that it's too much sugary food i eat. ( I normally consume in total 2lb sugar a day for some reason i can't do without sugary food). My family also have a history of blood pressure & diabetes. Please help me i don't know if it's the Depo/ The sugary food that causes the discharge. ( I have not yet tested for Diabetes/ pressure also I haven't had sex since May 2011 after i broke up with my bf, so i'd rule out STD)Question #4:
Should I stay with my morbidly obese bf?
My boyfriend weighs approximately 450 pounds. We've been together for about six months. He makes me laugh, he's a gentleman, very romantic, responsible, hard-working, street smart and caring. He makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. Even though we haven't been together long, we've often talked about the future (kids, marriage, etc) I can imagine us together forever. I am in no way embarrassed or ashamed of his weight or appearance. He's clean cut, dresses nice and is not lazy. However I'm scared about his health. If we ever had kids, I couldn't bear the thought of losing him to heart disease or diabetes at an early age. Hes 32. If he ever fell terminally I'll because of his weight, I don't think I'd be strong enough to be his caretaker. Ive already been through sickness in my own family and have acted as caretaker before? He has no interest in getting healthy and losing weight. His poor eating habits scare me and I don't want to lose him. I'm not skinny myself. I recently joined weight watchers and lost 15 lbs so far. Hopefully this will help motivate him.Should i stay? I want us to have a happy and healthy future :(
Question #5:
If it's a choice between being an alcoholic or a soda-holic drinking gobs of sugar everyday, who will be the?
least healthy in the end?By Dr. Mercola
Soda, which is loaded with sugar primarily in the form of high fructose corn syrup, is a leading contributor to the rising rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic diseases facing Americans.
So when I say that drinking a can of soda is just as bad for you as smoking a cigarette (and maybe even worse) it is not an exaggeration.

My mam, dad and my friend said i should go to the nurse to get checked for diabetes, however i would feel like a hypochondriac, but I have noticed that i feel drowsy, and lately iv been going to bed hours earlier than i normally would around 10PM and i can wake up 11AM the next morning, i dont know if its still because i over slept... Question #8:
My blood sugar was 61 while fasting, is that okay?
so, a couple of weeks ago I was fasting (the religious kind, for 24 hours) while working. Around noon I was feeling kind of weak so I asked on of the nurse's to take my blood sugar (I am a CNA in a nursing home). My blood glucose level was 61. It had been about 18 hours since I had eaten or drank anything and I was running around a lot. I know, its probably not wise to fast at work! I probably won't do it again. Anyway, I'm used to eating a lot of sugar, could that be why my glycogen storage didn't hold for the whole usual 24 hours? Or was it the running around? I'm really worried about getting diabetes, should I be? My grandmother's mother had it, and my aunt had gestational diabetes, but no one else has had it in my family (I don't know about past generations though). I am also overweight (but I'm working fixing that! ;). Another morning I had someone take it at the "normal" fasting glucose time and it was 85, and yesterday it was 91 a few hours after breakfast (orange juice with toast and peanut butter).Gary - I don't know if you'll even read this, but whatever. I cannot take your answer seriously because it is "sOOOOOoooo" obvious you have no idea what a CNA does. CNAs are not nurses. We do not check the patients' blood glucose, we do not administer insulin, we do not administer any kinds of medications (at least not anywhere I've worked). CNAs are responsible for bathing, dressing, transferring (from bed to wheelchair, etc..), and assisting any any other daily cares. It takes one college course at a technical college to become a CNA. We are trained to know to avoid giving added sugar to diabetics and to know when they are in need of a nurse's help for diabetic care, but specific numbers of blood glucose are not our area. I had the nurse check my blood sugar because I knew it was probably low and I was curious. I didn't say I didn't eat anything afterwards and I usually do not fast at work so this has not been a problem before.
I know
... I don't know why the whole thing didn't paste up here...
I know 61 is too low, that wasn't really my question. Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but my question was really more about the normalcy of the number after not eating for 18 hours in respect to my glycogen storage. I wanted to know if my liver was not operating correctly, or if my body produced extra insulin in anticipation of my high sugar diet. A nurse at work told me this ("hypoglycemia") is a precursor to diabetes. I don't want diabetes. I want to know if what she said was true. I used that header to my question to draw attention, I've had people not answer my questions before. Also, if you knew me at work, you would like me as a CNA, I guarantee it. And as for learning about my trade, I am in school full time at a very highly respected university learning everyday in addition to working. Maybe I'm vainly reposing my earlier post and I just can't see the rest of it and ever
Question #9:

Question #11:
Tingling in face and fingers?
I occasionally have a tingling feeling in my face and fingers. I've had this my whole life I think. I used to think it was from too much caffeine.I do have type 1 diabetes and I'm 17 I've had it since I was 5. I have had a lot of diet coke today but my face and fingers have been tingling for about 4 hours now.
What is this?
Question #12:
answer a serious HEALTH Question?
Could this be diabetes? I have a randomly swollen right foot (again).Last night it was four times thicker than my left esp around the ankle,
its still a bit enlarged.
Its not normal for one foot to swell up bigger than other because of sitting
down for "too long".But this is what happened to my right foot last night.
This is the second time this had happened.
I read somewhere online that this could also be brought on by
dehydration, but is it really normal for a twenty something young
person? I drink SOME water. Not a lot, but I still drink enough
fluids.
My foot is still swollen a bit from last night and yes, im going
to a doctor, but before I do Id like to know if anyone else has some insight..
I have not been bitten, I have not injured my foot, etc.

Question #14:
anxiety is ruining my life. does anyone else feel this way?
about 2 months ago, i got the flu and it caused terrible symptoms. all of the sudden i had a panic attack and it caused serious anxiety. since it happened when i had these flu symptoms, i ALWAYS feel like something's wrong with my health. if i urinate more than normal in a day, i think i have diabetes or a UTI. if i have a bowel movement with extra gas for a few days, i think i have a parasite or colon cancer. if my hands or feet get tingly, i think i have blood clots. if i have a headache or feel lightheaded, i think i have a brain tumor or that i'm about to have a siezure. i've never thrown up during any of this for the past two months (except during the flu), i havent fainted, no seizures, nothing serious like that that would cause me to be worried about something serious. but when the littles things happen, i automatically think i'm going to die or something is seriously wrong. then once in awhile i'll have a panic attack because im afraid i'm going to pass out or die. its taking over my life.i was wondering if anyone else was feeling the same way with their anxiety? i know not everyone is the same and everyone has different symptoms, but i wanted to know if anyone felt anything like this as well.
thank you. <3
Question #15:
symptoms of diabetes?
Question #16:
How come after me and my girlfriend have sex my urine is bubbly?
Like you know how everybody always has to urinate a little after sex. Well its always been that way with me. And anyways ive always noticed that when I finish having sex and then go use the bathroom right after. The urine is really bubbly. lol And it only happens after I have sex so yeah. I know bubbly urine can be a sign of something bad like kidney disease, diabetes, etc. I feel very healthy though and take care of myself so I doubt thats it. Especially because this only happens after sex.Question #17:

Question #19:
What's a word that means "unwilling to believe"?
I'm looking for an adjective that can be either positive or negative. For instance:When she said they had won a million dollars, he couldn't believe her. To him, it sounded too good to be true. It took a lot to convince him. He's always been very____________.
The doctor told her she had diabetes, but she didn't believe him. I think she was ___________ just because the doctor looked strange.
Question #20:
Do you drink coke or pepsi? Why for Heaven's Sake?
By Dr. MercolaSoda, which is loaded with sugar primarily in the form of high fructose corn syrup, is a leading contributor to the rising rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic diseases facing Americans.
So when I say that drinking a can of soda is just as bad for you as smoking a cigarette (and maybe even worse) it is not an exaggeration.
Drinking soda is in many ways worse for you than smoking, and it is only because of massive marketing campaigns from the industry that these sugary beverages are deemed acceptable for our most vulnerable members of society – our kids.
In the 21st century there would indeed be an uproar if tobacco companies attempted to target our kids, but the soda companies do it everyday.
It's time to wake up and face the facts: the soda industry is out for your children, and the message they send is every bit as damaging (and manipulative) as the one spewed by Big Tobacco.
